The story behind this project
My name is Youssef, I'm 26 years old and I live in the Medina of Marrakech. Every morning before school and every evening after work, I walk through the narrow alleys of our old city carrying bags of food for the hundreds of cats who call these streets home.
Street cats in Morocco face hard realities: scorching summers, cold winters, hunger, illness, and sometimes cruelty. Without municipal animal welfare programmes in most areas, it falls to individuals like me — and like you — to make a difference.
Every day I feed more than 60 cats across 5 locations in the Medina. I buy the food out of my own pocket, which is very thin. With your help, I can expand the feeding rounds, buy medicine for sick cats, and work with local vets for basic care and sterilisation.
Your donation, whatever the amount, directly feeds several cats for a full day. Together, we can change these streets — one bowl at a time.
This project receives no institutional funding. Every cent comes from people like you, who believe that one act of kindness — however small — can change a life, even that of a street cat.
